+2009 Sycamore Lane

This past weekend we attended the 63rd Birthday of the USAF Ball. On the table was a bottle of Merlot and a bottle of Chardonnay. They were both so good! The Merlot is smooth and very drinkable independent of food. The Chard is light and fruity without a bite at the end (much better chilled). We enjoyed both of them and were pleased when we were offered the opportunity to take a bottle of each home with us! The wine was provided by Merchant & Main, a restaurant downtown Vacaville. Vinted and bottled in Napa.

++2009 Folie Menage

Mom recommended this wine to me and said I could get it at Costco. When I went there I recognized the label as one I've walked past before. I grabbed a bottle and glanced up at the price tag - WOW! I thought - and I grabbed a second bottle. Andy and I really like it. This is a California (St Helena) Red Wine based on three varieties: zinfandel, merlot and cab. I find it delightful to drink alone and with meat, cheese, caprese or bread. Costco $6.49. CHEERS!

+/- 2007 Las Rocas de San Alejandro

This is a Spanish wine that was recommended to me by the sales associate at BevMo. He said it would be great with lasagna and it was okay. We liked the Emiliana better. The variety is called Garnacha. It was good enough to drink but not wonderful. BevMo $12.99. CHEERS!

+2007 Oregon Cellars Edelweiss

Jamie Haddy gave me this bottle of white table wine. It is sweet and refreshing, especially when chilled. In fact, I think I had it finished in about three nights! The bottle is very pretty, it had a label full of flowers (Lillie's) and an interior label on the back of a vineyard. Thanks for sharing Jamie! CHEERS!

+2007 Kendall-Jackson Riesling

Discovered this Riesling recently. Kendall-Jackson is in Santa Rosa, CA. This is a very standard wine. I don't mean par, I mean it is predictable and good. Smooth on the palate. I will buy this one again because it is to me what a Riesling should be. Bev Mo. CHEER!

+2005 Emiliana Sincerity (Merlot/Cab)

In March I asked my new friend Kelley to come for dinner. I made lasagna and she said she'd bring the wine. She brought this bottle from Colchagua Valley, Chile that was very good, especially with the lasagna! This wine is made with organically grown grapes, 73% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is very good. BevMo. CHEERS!

Anaba White Port

After I discovered Anaba in Sonoma with our friends, I took Andy back there and he loved it too! We bought the White Port because we had never heard of it! We knew of Red Port but didn't even think to make the distinction. It is fruity, peachy and really seems like a thick swirl of liquid dessert! Yum! We took it home to Oregon and shared a little sip with everyone there! CHEERS!
